Organizational Consulting

Reliability takes both technical and cultural work.

When it’s missing, it often shows up like this:

  • Incident response seems chaotic and reviews that feel like a formality instead of a important return on already-paid costs

  • Platforms that enable others that don’t work well, and creates more teams to maintain it

  • Capable engineers quietly burning out, not from the work itself, but from everything around it that turns good work into a chore

I help organizations to become more resilient to outages both technically and organizationally. We look at the tools, the systemic assumptions, the way people work with each other during and after outages.

Together, we find practical and meaningful ways to reduce friction and make room for good engineering to happen.

While each engagement is tailored, the work generally shows up in three forms.

Speaking & Coaching

Most of the time, the first step is getting people in a room to talk.

I offer internal panel talks, or focused-coaching that helps teams and leaders:

  • Work through friction points in collaboration, especially between platform, product, and SRE

  • Make reliability a shared language

  • Turn vague ownership into something people understand and feel good about

These conversations help uncover what’s been left unsaid. They make space for reflection, alignment, and more intentional ways of working, especially in fast-moving or growing teams.

Making Incidents Useful (and Sometimes Even Fun)

Outages are inevitable, especially when you’re growing fast. I’ve worked with teams during high-stakes outages, and led incident management efforts in organizations of over 5,000 people.

Together, we look at:

  • How incidents are actually handled in your organization; process vs practice

  • What gets in the way of useful reflection (and how to make it easier)

  • Where learning gets lost, and how to bring it back into daily work

This might mean:

  • Redesigning your incident management process

  • Running collaborative sessions to unpack past outages

  • Helping you build internal training that makes engineers feel more prepared when things go wrong

Streamlining Reliability

Reliability work often breaks down in the gaps between teams, roles, and expectations.

I help companies look at how reliability & resilience play out day to day, and where it’s breaking down.

This can include:

  • Platform work no one adopts because alignment was missing from the start

  • SREs doing invisible glue work just to keep things moving

  • Reliability goals that exist, but feel impossible to act on

We surface those patterns and simplify by:

  • Clarifying roles across product, platform, and infra

  • Aligning on what “reliable enough” really means

  • Redesigning workflows so people spend less time chasing clarity

The goal isn’t to add more structure for its own sake. It’s to reduce friction, so teams can do what they’re here to do, and feel good doing it.
